It is a beautiful, 4200-square foot space with high ceilings and tons of natural light. We offer memberships as well as classes, in addition to some retail (clay, glazes, and tools). Subject to change, we are tentatively planning a soft open for a limited number of members on July 1, with 8-week class sessions for students beginning 8/20. If you’re interested in teaching 1-2 day workshops or other formats, please let us know.

We are seeking experienced Ceramics Instructors to join our team and lead a variety of classes. The ideal candidate has a passion for pottery, a strong background in ceramics, and previous experience teaching students of various skill levels.

 Class Details:

  • Classes are offered in 8-week sessions, meeting once per week

  • Class size may vary depending on the course and instructor preference

  • Introductory classes should have no more than 12 students to ensure individualized attention

  • In addition to 8-week sessions, one- or two-session workshops will also be offered, in addition to daycamp-style week-long classes for kids

 Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and informative ceramics classes to students of all ages and skill levels

  • Instruct students in various ceramics techniques, including wheel throwing, hand-building, glazing, and lidded forms

  • Create a positive and welcoming learning environment that fosters creativity and encourages students to explore their artistic abilities

  • Provide demonstrations and hands-on guidance to students during class sessions to ensure proper technique and safe use of equipment and materials

  • Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom culture that promotes collaboration and encourages student interaction

  • Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment, including setup, cleanup, and maintenance of equipment and supplies

 Qualifications:

  • Previous experience teaching ceramics in a classroom or studio setting

  • Demonstrated expertise in wheel throwing, hand-building, and glazing techniques

  • Positive and welcoming attitude, fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment

  • Enthusiasm and passion for the ceramic arts, inspiring students to explore their creativity

  • Knowledge of studio safety practices and procedures, ensuring the well-being of students during class sessions

  • Flexibility in scheduling, with availability to teach outside of regular business hours, including evenings and weekends is ideal

The pay rate for this position is $40/hour. Benefits include paid sick leave in compliance with local law. For employees regularly working 8 or more hours per week, we offer studio access equivalent to that of members, which includes access to the studio whenever it is open, as well as glazes and firing.

To apply, email your resume to jobs@gatherpottery.com, and in your email or cover letter, please include some details about your availability and the classes you’d like to teach.
