Studio Monitor
Gather Pottery, a brand new community clay center located in Seattle’s Interbay neighborhood, is seeking a Studio Monitor to join our team. Our studio is located at 1465 Elliott Ave W, convenient to bus lines and bike trails, and free parking is available. It is a beautiful, 4200-square foot space with high ceilings and tons of natural light. We offer memberships as well as classes, in addition to some retail (clay, glazes, and tools). Subject to change, we are tentatively planning a soft open for a limited number of members on July 1, with 8-week class sessions for students beginning 8/20.
As Studio Monitor, you will be responsible for various duties, including reception, ringing up purchases, and maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the studio. The ideal candidate will possess a positive and welcoming attitude, be reliable and punctual, and have a strong sense of responsibility. Previous experience with ceramics is a big plus, and benefits include studio access similar to that we offer to our members.
Responsibilities:
Greet and welcome studio visitors in a friendly and professional manner
Provide excellent customer service, answering inquiries, assisting with purchases, and addressing customer needs and concerns
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the studio
Assist in studio maintenance tasks, such as kiln loading and unloading, clay recycling, and glaze preparation
Assist in setting up and preparing studio equipment and materials for classes and workshops
Collaborate with other studio staff to ensure smooth operations and efficient customer service
Assist with special events and workshops as needed
Qualifications:
Positive and welcoming attitude, creating a friendly and inclusive atmosphere for studio visitors and participants
Strong sense of responsibility, reliability, and punctuality
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Knowledge or experience in ceramics or pottery is a plus
Flexibility in work schedule, including evenings and weekends
Physical ability to perform cleaning and maintenance tasks
The pay rate for this position is $20/hour. Benefits include paid sick leave in compliance with local law. For employees regularly working 8 or more hours per week, we offer studio access equivalent to that of members, which includes access to the studio whenever it is open, as well as glazes and firing.
